Measurement of Coherent π+ Production in Low Energy Neutrino-Carbon Scattering
2016
We report the first measurement of the flux-averaged cross section for charged current coherent π+ production on carbon for neutrino energies less than 1.5 GeV, and with a restriction on the final state phase space volume in the T2K near detector, ND280. Comparisons are made with predictions from the Rein-Sehgal coherent production model and the model by Alvarez-Ruso et al., the latter representing the first implementation of an instance of the new class of microscopic coherent models in a neutrino interaction Monte Carlo event generator. We observe a clear event excess above background, disagreeing with the null results reported by K2K and SciBooNE in a similar neutrino energy region. The …
Pion generalized dipole polarizabilities by virtual Compton scatteringπe→πeγ
2001
We present a calculation of the cross section and the event generator of the reaction $\ensuremath{\pi}e\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\pi}e\ensuremath{\gamma}.$ This reaction is sensitive to the pion generalized dipole polarizabilities, namely, the longitudinal electric ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{L}{(q}^{2}),$ the transverse electric ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{T}{(q}^{2}),$ and the magnetic $\ensuremath{\beta}{(q}^{2})$ which, in the real-photon limit, reduce to the ordinary electric and magnetic polarizabilities $\overline{\ensuremath{\alpha}}$ and $\overline{\ensuremath{\beta}},$ respectively. The calculation of the cross section is done in the framework of chiral perturbation theory at $…
Testing charged current quasi-elastic and multinucleon interaction models in the NEUT neutrino interaction generator with published datasets from the…
2016
There has been a great deal of theoretical work on sophisticated charged current quasi-elastic (CCQE) neutrino interaction models in recent years, prompted by a number of experimental results that measured unexpectedly large CCQE cross sections on nuclear targets. As the dominant interaction mode at T2K energies, and the signal process in oscillation analyses, it is important for the T2K experiment to include realistic CCQE cross section uncertainties in T2K analyses. To this end, T2K’s Neutrino Interaction Working Group has implemented a number of recent models in NEUT, T2K’s primary neutrino interaction event generator. In this paper, we give an overview of the models implemented and pres…
Suppression of Λ(1520) resonance production in central Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2019
The production yield of the Λ(1520) baryon resonance is measured at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The measurement is performed in the Λ(1520)→pK− (and charge conjugate) hadronic decay channel as a function of the transverse momentum (pT) and collision centrality. The ratio of the pT-integrated production of Λ(1520) baryons relative to Λ baryons in central collisions is suppressed by about a factor of 2 with respect to peripheral collisions. This is the first observation of the suppression of a baryonic resonance at the LHC and the first 3σ evidence of Λ(1520) suppression within a single collision system. The mea…
STATISTICAL DECAY OF EXCITED ΛΛ HYPERNUCLEI AND γ-SPECTROSCOPY AT $\rm \bar P \rm ANDA$
2009
Hypernuclear physics is currently attracting renewed attention. Thanks to the use of stored [Formula: see text] beams, copious production of double Λ hypernuclei is expected at the [Formula: see text] experiment which will enable high precision γ-spectroscopy of such nuclei for the first time. In the present work we have studied the population of particle stable, excited states in double hypernuclei after the capture of a Ξ- within a statistical decay model. In order to check the feasibility of producing and performing γ-spectroscopy of double hypernuclei at [Formula: see text], an event generator based on these calculations has been implemented in the [Formula: see text] simulation framew…
RChL currents in Tauola: implementation and fit parameters
2013
We present the results of a partial upgrade to the Monte Carlo event generator TAUOLA using Resonance Chiral Theory for the two and three meson final states. These modes account for 88% of total hadronic width of the tau meson. The first results of the model parameters have been obtained using Preliminary BaBar data for the three pion mode.
Two-photon widths of theχc0,2states and helicity analysis forχc2→γγ
2012
Based on a data sample of 106 X 10(6) psi' events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays psi' -> gamma chi(c0,2), chi(c0,2) -> gamma gamma are studied to determine the two-photon widths of the chi(c0,2) states. The two-photon decay branching fractions are determined to be B(chi(c0) -> gamma gamma) = (2.24 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.12 +/- 0.08) X 10(-4) and B(chi(c2) -> gamma gamma) = (3.21 +/- 0.18 +/- 0.17 +/- 0.13) X 10(-4) From these, the two-photon widths are determined to be Gamma(gamma gamma)(chi(c0)) = (2.33 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.17) keV, Gamma(gamma gamma)(chi(c2)) = (0.63 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.04) keV, and R = Gamma(gamma gamma)(chi(c2))/Gamma(gamma gamma)(chi(c0)) = 0.271 +/- 0.0…
Search for neutralino pair production at root s = 189 GeV
2001
A search for pair-production of neutralinos at a LEP centre-of-mass energy of 189 GeV gave no evidence for a signal. This limits the neutralino production cross-section and excludes regions in the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM).
Prospects for charged current deep-inelastic scattering off polarized nucleons at a future electron-ion collider
2013
We present a detailed phenomenological study of charged-current-mediated deep-inelastic scattering off longitudinally polarized nucleons at a future Electron-Ion Collider. A new version of the event generator package DJANGOH, extended by capabilities to handle processes with polarized nucleons, is introduced and used to simulate charged current deep-inelastic scattering including QED, QCD, and electroweak radiative effects. We carefully explore the range of validity and the accuracy of the Jacquet-Blondel method to reconstruct the relevant kinematic variables from the measured hadronic final state in charged current events, assuming realistic detector performance parameters. Finally, we est…
LeptonInjector and LeptonWeighter: A neutrino event generator and weighter for neutrino observatories
2021
We present a high-energy neutrino event generator, called LeptonInjector, alongside an event weighter, called LeptonWeighter. Both are designed for large-volume Cherenkov neutrino telescopes such as IceCube. The neutrino event generator allows for quick and flexible simulation of neutrino events within and around the detector volume, and implements the leading Standard Model neutrino interaction processes relevant for neutrino observatories: neutrino-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering and neutrino-electron annihilation. In this paper, we discuss the event generation algorithm, the weighting algorithm, and the main functions of the publicly available code, with examples.
